Over 700 children took part in one of the UK's largest junior hockey festivals on 18th/19th April at Cokethorpe School and Witney ATP over the weekend.

On Saturday morning, the youngest age groups competed for the winners and runners-up medals with City of Oxford beating Oxford Hawks 2-0 in the Under 8's final whilst hosts Rover Oxford overcame local rivals Hawks 1-0 in the Under 10's competition with some great passing hockey. In the afternoon the local clubs earlier dominance was broken by Banbridge Academy who's long trip from Northern Ireland was rewarded with a fine win in the Under 12 boys competition beating Wallingford 3-2 in a pulsating final.

On Sunday morning at Cokethorpe School, City of Oxford drew with Oxford Hawks 2-2 in the Under 14 boys final but City held their nerve coming through to win in 2-1 the penalty competition. The Under 16 girls competition saw Cheltenham beating West Witney 1-0 whilst in a high standard Under 16 boys final, Eastcote overcame Teddington 1-0. Meanwhile, over at Witney ATP the Under 12 and Under 14 girls competitions were played out with Aylesbury squeezing past West Witney 3-2 on penalties after a goalless U12's final whilst Hawks picked up their fourth runners-up set of medals losing out 2-0 to a strong Aylesbury U14 girls team.

Fair play trophies were presented by the umpires on the Sunday to Wallingford U14 boys, West Witney U14 and U16 girls, Rover Oxford U16 boys and Oxford Hawks U12 girls.

Head of Cokethorpe, Damien Ettinger presented the trophies and said "The Rover Oxford Junior Festival continues to show off high quality hockey for a large number of children in a well organised event which we are delighted to host".
