The 15th Rover Oxford Youth Hockey Festival was again well attended with 56 teams competing in 6 age groups for the coveted trophies. For the first time, the festival was hosted in Cokethorpe School's magnificent grounds and the summer like weather made for a spectacular contest.

On Saturday the Under 8's and Under 10's started the event with Teddington overcoming Rover Oxford in the final of the U8 competition with a single, late goal whilst in the U10's, City of Oxford came out on top of a penalty shoot-out to overcome Teddington in the final. Later that day, City of Oxford U12 lifted their second trophy of the day in a local derby of a final against rivals Rover Oxford.

On Sunday, Aylesbury U14 just managed to win in the final against Oxford Hawks after a gripping penalty shoot out saw the Aylesbury keeper pull of a magnificent save to win through 3-2. In the afternoon, the hotly tipped Banbridge Academy who had travelled from Northern Ireland to compete were runner's up twice - first with the under 16 girls against Aylesbury and second against Eastcote U16 boys.

The Fair Play awards, presented by the Oxfordshire Hockey Association lead by Roger Midwinter were awarded on the Sunday to City of Oxford U14, Wycombe Rye U16 girls and Eastcote U16 boys for sporting behaviour on the pitch.

Head Teacher Damian Ettinger presented the trophies on Sunday and said he was pleased to see local community clubs being able to use the facilities at Cokethorpe and praised the high standard of organisation from the hosting club, Rover Oxford.
